FVS Covid Plan
The FVS plan follows the six-step process as outlined by WorkSafeBC. FVS is committed to making our COVID-19 safety plan readily available for employees as well as anyone else who may come into contact with us in the work environment.
A copy of our COVID-19 Safety Plan will be provided if requested by WorkSafe BC at any time. Our COVID-19 Safety Plan is posted on our website.
STEP 1 Assess the risks at the workplace
To determine the risk of transmission of COVID-19, we have consulted;
Information on the virus as it is offered by Public Health Authorities.
Our employees and managers.
We have identified;
High traffic areas on site.
Tasks where employees will be working in close proximity to one another.
Tools and equipment that may be shared between employees.
Surfaces that are touched often by employees.
We have established what areas of our work may include a risk of transmitting COVID-19. We also determined who could be at risk of exposure, including our employees and anyone else we may come in contact with.
STEPS 2 & 3 Implement control measures, including policies, procedures, and protocols to reduce the risks
FVS has implemented the following controls to ensure we avoid the transmission of COVID-19.
Employees will use our internal COVID self-assessment tool before beginning each shift. This can be found at the top of the page
Requiring employees to report symptoms to their supervisor immediately.
Requiring employees who display symptoms to obtain a negative COVID-19 test before returning to work.
Providing each employee with their own personal hand tools to limit the sharing of tools as much as possible.
Mandating usage of masks across the company.
Providing respiratory protection accompanied by fit tests.
Providing employees with other PPE, including gloves and safety glasses.
Requiring employees to social distance from each other, as well as other trades on site.
When a task requires employees to work in close proximity, requiring employees to wear proper PPE and to spend no longer than 10 minutes in close proximity before taking a break.
STEP 4 Develop communication plans and training
To ensure our employees are up to date with the latest COVID-19 information FVS will;
Make bi-weekly COVID-19 updates to communicate our plans and any changes to our employees.
Train our employees on the controls required to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.
Make copies of our COVID-19 plan readily accessible and available to all employees.
Ensure managers are trained to monitor employees and enforce the required controls implemented by FVS.
STEP 5 Monitor our workplace and update our plans as needed
As COVID-19 is an ever-changing, fluid situation, FVS is committed to monitoring our work environment to make sure control measures are effective and making changes or updating our plan as required. To assist in the monitoring of our work environment, FVS will;
Ensure employees are aware of how to report workplace hazards.
Ensure employees are aware of how to report COVID-19 symptoms.
Perform workplace inspections to identify any potential new areas of concern.
Reassess our control measures to quantify their effectiveness and, when appropriate, make changes or update these measures.
Re-assess the need for training and communication whenever appropriate and update our plans accordingly.
STEP 6 Assess and address risks from resuming operations or getting back to normal
FVS has been operating business as usual throughout the pandemic, however, is still committed to the following;
Ensuring all new employees are properly trained regarding COVID-19 protocols.
Ensuring any employees taking on new or changed responsibilities are properly trained in the protocols specific to their role.
Ensuring any changes to the company regarding COVID-19 are effectively communicated to all employees.
